Haiko Meijer and Onix Architecture

I went to a lecture by Haiko Meijer, the founder of Onix Architecture in the Netherlands, the other night and was amazed at his use of wood.  They try to use wood in ways it would not often be used, as well as build a lot of homes like barns.  They actually have created their own definition of a barn which I can't quite remember now.  Its something along the lines of a large building that inspires activity and has multiple uses (I hope thats right).  They reinvent the barn in beautiful ways based on their definition.  Above is a suspension bridge they built from acidulated wood, which is a fairly new technology making weak wood incredibly strong as well as unrecognizable to those critters that would feed on it.  Pretty cool stuff.

What I want to see in Spring '09

cont'd

There are a few styles out there that I would love to see this spring, and love to own.  I am pretty sure they will be out in full force because brands are dropping them left and right.  Here are a couple of thoughts.
Creative Boat Shoes, Waxed Jackets, Colorful Slipons, Toggle Coats, Boots, Short Pants w/ No Socks (or dress socks), Fall Gear.  I like the idea of bringing a little Fall flavor into the spring, the weather is similar, why can't you rock similar styles...YOU CAN!

Been there, done that...

I know these kids usually do right...but this one, plaaaayyyed.

Charlie Miller

Long time friend Charles Miller is always being artistic in his spare time, usually with his camera.  He's got a blog, because he is cool.  Here's a sample of his photos.  (I'm even in one)
