David Duchovny for Pedigree

I've just re-watched Californication seasons 1 and 2 so when I saw these commercials I thought they were at least somewhat blogworthy.

Summer is Over

Its September and I thought I'd get my blog on again. At the end of 2008 I found myself growing tired of blogging because I was writing the same things as every other person out there and didn't see the point. Now, instead of blogging daily or a few times a week because i think I should, I am going to wait until I see something I like that makes me go "that is blog worthy". This was the first thing.

People on the Internet SUCK

I would like to post a link to a website that initially isn't very interesting. Today I recalled the competition to name a flavor of ice cream in honor of Barack Obama and thought I'd look into some of the finalists for my daily chuckle or whatever. This is what I found. It's not the flavor that disappoints me, or the name, but the comments below it that go so deep into political beliefs that it is obvious that most people are just on the internet to be angry douche bags without faces. see for yourself. its hilariously ridiculous.

My friend Jamie Williams is an incredibly versatile and talented artist living and going to school in San Francisco.  Here is a recent video he made called "Swine Flu"

Disclaimer:  If you are a big sally, maybe don't watch this.  Or watch it and grow some balls.

Johnny Depp x Spongebob

Oliver Spencer isn't the only one loving Mr. Depp this year.  The actor voiced a character, Jack Kahuna Laguna, on the cartoon SpongeBob SquarePants for a 10th anniversary episode.  Take a look at the sexual innuendoes when he is introduced...its remarkable what they include in kids shows these days.

John Varvatos | Slip Boat Venetian

The king of footwear does it again.  Sometimes classic boat shoes are a little too much, these slim leather slip-ons are great for boating as a guest; no rigging.

Durkl | Spring 2009

Durkl is a brand I only recently discovered and I really like what they are doing.  Some similarities to the boys at PEGLEG™ but definitely with their own style.  Heres a look at their current line available on their website.

Oliver Spencer | Spring 2009

Oliver Spencer really didn't hold back this spring, and who better to rock this line than Johnny Depp.  The looks are classic with modern twists like the hooded blazer.  Lets see if we can't all get back to this kind of classic look as the sun comes out this year.

Haiko Meijer and Onix Architecture

I went to a lecture by Haiko Meijer, the founder of Onix Architecture in the Netherlands, the other night and was amazed at his use of wood.  They try to use wood in ways it would not often be used, as well as build a lot of homes like barns.  They actually have created their own definition of a barn which I can't quite remember now.  Its something along the lines of a large building that inspires activity and has multiple uses (I hope thats right).  They reinvent the barn in beautiful ways based on their definition.  Above is a suspension bridge they built from acidulated wood, which is a fairly new technology making weak wood incredibly strong as well as unrecognizable to those critters that would feed on it.  Pretty cool stuff.

What I want to see in Spring '09

cont'd

There are a few styles out there that I would love to see this spring, and love to own.  I am pretty sure they will be out in full force because brands are dropping them left and right.  Here are a couple of thoughts.
Creative Boat Shoes, Waxed Jackets, Colorful Slipons, Toggle Coats, Boots, Short Pants w/ No Socks (or dress socks), Fall Gear.  I like the idea of bringing a little Fall flavor into the spring, the weather is similar, why can't you rock similar styles...YOU CAN!

Been there, done that...

I know these kids usually do right...but this one, plaaaayyyed.

Sartorialist keeping it real

Scott Schuman has been taking great photographs of well dressed people for about 8 years now and more recently started his blog, The Sartorialist.  This is just a sample of what he posts.  I recently e-mailed him to let him know how much I like his photographs and he e-mailed me back quickly and was very friendly.
